Mini Mania Announcement?

Does anybody have any knowledge of what MINI Mania is going to announce on July 1st? I received an email through MINI Mania's mailing list that this will be a very significant new performance product. Should be interesting!

I was told by them that they are working on some larger HP kits as well, they claim to be breaking the 300hp barrier soon... , this was told to me by by a high level employee face to face, so we will see...

Will the 300hp kit void the warranty? I want to get to 300hp but not void the warranty.

I like the fact that they are looking for more power. Unfortunately the cost to power ratio starts becoming exponential, and unfortunately for the Mini that ratio starts low (@225hp).

300HP on a FWD is too much. You can convert the MINI to RWD, but then the F/R weight distribution is horrible...I think ~250 is pretty good for the MCS. Anything higher, MCS driving characteristics would be lost, unless you do some heavy, heavy suspension mods.

275 bhp

If I remember correctly a company named BBR pulled out 275hp as mentioned on the British Car Show...I still have the clip with the 4 wheel drifting on DRY pavement

"...suddenly, I'm starting to feel the limits of what the suspension can handle..." according to the host

Yes, but he also concluded that the Mini really could handle 275hp.

wow that would be awesome to hit 300hp. of course i dont have a mini just yet and i know many people might say it but my goal for my mini would be to hit 300hp and then i can stop. i personally dont think 300 on a fwd car is too much. ive been around some high powered fwd cars and its not that bad. my friend actually has a 406hp integra and ive driven it and it amazing. im excited to see if its really a 300hp kit...

I was just stating what i was told, there were no cost numbers as well as what it would take to "handle" it.....

This may not be there anouncement, i was told no timeline, so it could be or maybe not, but i was told by their represenative that it was in the works, for all i know they as well could have been handing me a line of &%&^%* because i could be considered competition, but the coversation took place at a time they were considering sponsoring me as well so who knows....the sponsorship is still in the air so i dont know their intent of it...

I agree with dgszweda1 that it is relatively painless to the wallet to achive 220 or so hp on our MCSs. The next 20 to 30 gets pricey though...

Even if money is not a factor, there are of course other limits. How much is too much sort of depends on the type of driving one is doing also. Randy commented a few months back that at nearly 250hp, he's starting to feel the car to be at its limits, at least for how he drives. He made mention of FWD, and the issues associated... Someone who purely drags might feel different though...

Something in the 300hp area is bound to include a different SC, or a turbo replacement, I would think.
