In a couple of months I will be making my now annual pilgrimage out to the midwest for a open road race and some other competition. Anyway in the northeast 93 octane is plentiful. Once you get past Illinois, 93 and 91 octane is harder to find. In Nebraska (final destination) it is very difficult to find anything over 89.5 octane. I am thinking of taking some octane booster with me. Now to the question....Has anybody used them? And, do they work?

bmw's are not designed for octane booster. dont do it you will regret it. the injector seal will go and ever goes after that.

 

Some ideas.

Mothballs are nice for increasing octane!

Extra 5 gallon gas container for storing some ultra high 100+ octane fuel if you can find some along the way. Mix a little with some premium gas for best results.

Octane boosters only add a little octane like 0.5 to one octane for each bottle per tank. Not worth the effort even if it was any good.

 

I think those bottles, when they say for example, raises 5 octane points, they don't mean your gas goes from 87 to a 92 but a 87 to ?87.5. Don't waste your money on those.

 

I was just in Southwest Nebraska over the Memorial Day weekend. I had no problems finding 91.
