I want a 15% pulley and have a problem. There is no dealer in New Mexico so I'm willing to drive up to Denver (6 hrs. each way) and have Randy install it. However, it appears he is too busy to do so in any reasonable time frame.

So, being a decent shade-tree mechanic and having the time I'm willing to tackle the job myself, but I refuse to BUY the tools (puller & tensioner tools?) necessary for this one-time job. Does any vendor rent these? I would be happy to buy the pulley from them if so.

Randy says:

Note: A removal tool is available for the pulley itself - with a very steep deposit charge (there is only one tool). The tool must be returned.

Deposit: $500

Yeah, I've seen the special tool available for rent with a hefty $500 deposit. Check Randy's web site. Here it is.

You might check other vendors too.

If you buy the Alta pulley from Randy ($120) he will let you borrow the tool for free I believe. webbmotorsports.com

Mike,

If you like, I can install it this week or next - you just have to put up with the dust while I'm moving into the new shop.

Let me know!

Mike,
Go for it if you can spare the time. There is no dilema, only finding a time to do it.
Consider the 6 hours driving there a warmup for the less than one hour install,
the thrilling test drive, and the even better 6 hour joyride back home. It is a requirement that you test out all gears and all possible speeds to fully appreciate the pulley upgrade. Buy lots of gas for the journey, you might want to go a little off track just to do more "testing".

Hey, while you are at Randy's think long and hard about anything else you might want to do at the same time.
Too bad it takes so long to install a Quaife LSD or I'd suggest you get that installed if you have an extra $2000+ lying around. It's worth the cost and effort.

Randy will do a good job for you at a good price. What about a throttle body, and CAI while your there. Also a chip.

After all it's only money

The ride Randy gave me in my car after the last party was worth $100.00

Randy,

June 1-4, Tues-Fri. Any of those days work for me. I can be at your place by 10am. Pick a day and send me the address.

And the rest of you guys:

Thanks for the advise. You are all great at spending my money! I'm just a 60 year-old unemployed motorhead--give my bank account a break.

Mike,

Let's shoot for June 4 at 10:00. What did you want to get, so I can be sure it is in stock? I have intakes, pullies and such in stock.

See you then!

Randy

Since it is your money I'm spending.... What I would do is pile as much $$$$$$ as I could on randy's desk and say, "Do what ever is best for that amount of bucks." That is what I did and he said what to do and what not to do and I'm happy with the outcome.

I also am old, 63 going on 17, but you only live once and I passed up things I wanted all my life so I finally said the Hell with it and bought the car I wanted and am doing what I want with it. (Of course my wife is not really happy with me but so what!!!!!

Randy,

Friday June 4th @ 10:00 at the Norwood Drive address is good. I'll only be doing the 15% pulley. I have the Pilo intake, Alta exhaust, and Alta swaybar that I've done myself. Is this $400? Please call me at the number below if anything changes to prevent this from happening on the 4th. as I'll be leaving home for the drive up at 4:00am.

I want to be like Mike-e-o, and S-Curves when I grow up. S-Curves, unfortunately, the only wife I've ever known to be happy is an ex-wife w/alimony...happy all the way to the bank. What I would do is pile as much $$$$$$ as I could on randy's desk and say, "Do what ever is best for that amount of bucks." That is what I did and he said what to do and what not to do and I'm happy with the outcome.
