Has anyone else seen this shift light? http://www.raptorperformance.com/

Looks pretty cool, esp. for autox or track racing.

That's the first thing I want distracting me while I am racing. I think most serious drivers listen to the engine to determine when to shift.

Spend a little more and get Gtech Pro Comp that'll give you a drag strip timer too

I have a tach mounter shift light. It is hidden behind the steering wheel a bit which is good. It's not always inf front of me, but visible enough that I see a light, knowing that shift is coming soon.

No thanks!
F1 cars have shift lights because there are about 20 other feedback readings the driver needs to pay attention to while they drive at speeds averaging 150mph over a tracks that average around 2.75 miles in length.
Driving a Mini is not quit as complex as driving a modern day F1 car, although some of us would like to make it that way

After having put in some track time, and bouncing into the red, I think I would like a nice visual cue as to where I am. I am finding it too easy to rev beyond what should be prudent. My distractions are keeping track of the cars around me, mirrors, etc. I would prefer a light that I could catch with my peripheral vision, and not have to keep referring to the tach. I'd be interested in any other set-ups people might be using, any others out there?

I'm considering a shift light now that I have the 19% pulley. I am a little leary of spending too much time in high revs. I would frequently bounce off the limiter with the 15%....with the 19%....not so good.

on my factory pully, the spool up is so slow a shift light would not
make much sense to me.

I installed a Stewart Warner Ultra Shift Light about half a year ago, and I find now that I need it less and less with my more discerning ear. That being said, I am apppreciative of the alerts when my when my senses are otherwise maxed-out...

I also like having the digital rpm (red) readout as well. The MINI tach is not exactly calibrated. The blue LEDs are just awesome when they fire. I had a friend following me in the canyon late one night, and after arriving at my home, he commented on how the blue glow could be seen from quite aways back. Install is a straight-forward with no additional components needed, inlciuding pills...

Here is a link: http://www.sw-performance.com/.

The price of blue is often more, but with a search, I found it for the same price. Good luck.

SPA makes a really cool helmet mount system. Only drawback - with everything SPA - $$price$$. $249 for the tack/shift light module, and $129 for the helmet mount piece. very slick, tho.

That helmet thing is a great design idea... but so not worth that kind of money.
