Does anyone else find it crazy that a pulley package with plugs, a belt, and a pulley is cheaper than most cold air intakes? Just blows my mind. It has to cost more to make a pulley than a cold air intake.

the demand for a intake must be higher, due to the fact an intake can be done by anyone....

i can see a less mechanically inclined or knowledgable person to second guess a pulley swap vs a quick bolt on intake....

im sure theres bigger profit made off the intake...

or I could be thinking it backwards and that pulleys are more popular therefore the price is cheaper than an intake .... lol

Folks have been making diy' cai's for the cost of a filter and about 10$ worth of sheet metal....a couple of pop rivits, tin snips...maybe some paint.... In about an hour with very basic skills and tools, you can have an alta clone....

because they can....

most people arent going to bother making something anyway if they can get a product that is plug and play they will and if its plug and play and they can get someone else to do it even better!

pulleys area mass produced things and it dosent take long to put a block of steel in a CNC leathe and spit it out. a air box on the other hand has more material and needs to be bent, welded need a fancy filter

spark plugs and belts are also a mass produced product so they don't cost all that much. plus belts don't cost that much $30 at most, plugs area another 10-50 for 4 pugs depending on what you get. and a turned piece of metal that a computer makes dosnt really cost all that much either.

I have fit a K&N filter directly on the throttle body for the cold winter. It' much more responsive then my expensive Cold Air Intake box

Is it cold enough in the winter to counteract the engine hear?
