Has anyone installed this recently? I did a search on it, and all the posts were pretty old, and not many of the people who installed it were happy with it. Any recent thoughts? Is it worth getting?

I HAVE ONE!.... but its sitting on my floor waiting for my MINI to get here in June. I bought it because everyone (including randy webb) who has tested it has liked it.

Mine got put on a couple of months ago, just make sure you install the sprayer kit that comes with it otherwise you will be disappointed. But it does look good especially with the red hosing and a good intermediary until someone brings out an EFFECTIVE top mount intercooler

i have one on Brutus, its biggest bennefit to us is piece of mind when driving hard on hot days or traffic. It cools intake temps a LOT better during low speed driving (traffic especially). Eye candy factor is a plus too, all red here.

The only downside I see is that it runs off of the rear wiper line. So whenever you want to use it, either your rear wipers are going to be going nuts OR you can disconnect the rear wiper motor. Me and a friend plan on putting a small engine and a seperate tank in to run this off of to eliminate this problem... should be a fun little thing to try. Has anyone else done this?

be sure to post pics and instructions as this would be a good how-to. I would think that with water and dry air in SoCal, this would be equivalent to a big intercooler without the sprayer. But I'm guessing.

I don't have it bout sould be interested if it came in plastic or something lightweight.

You mean this?

Got it, painted it, like it. Even if it doesn't cool better, it sure cleans up the engine compartment.

Are you saying you have it running off its own bottle and motor or just that its a sprayer? If the former, where did you mount the engine and the bottle?

Make you don't follow the instructions to the t or at least read and know them all because I followed them to the T and ended up removing the intercooler, then putting back on, only to realise that I hadn't done Jack and that the only reason I had to remove it was to pass the tube for the sprayer...other than that I'm very very happy with it

Mine is sitting in my garage waiting to be installed in four days.

Do you have to install the sprayer or will it divert the air and work better than stock without the water??

Samawil did you not install the silicone couplings? That is the main reason you need to remove the intercooler.

sup earl, the spray is what gets the intercooler colder than stock. I dont think the Diverter itself makes much of a difference in cooling, it looks better thatn stock and with the silicone couplers looks even better. take care and one of these days I will figure out how to show pictures of Brutus' "Under the Bonnett".

Ive got a digital cam and I DEFINITELY plan on taking some pictures when Brutus and... hmmm no name yet... my MINI meet. I'd be happy to take pictures of all of our MINIs "under the bonnett". I have started a thread about the July 4th run here so check it out.

mine was just installed a month ago... its mainly for eye candy. I didn't notice any performance gains from the butt-dyno.

for the price, i would expect more. I think all that money you spend is paying for the R&D of the sprayer system, which is only necessary if you are track/drag racing on a hot day.

if you want to show off at car shows, then get it. If you do a lot of serious racing in the sunbelt, then get it. Otherwise, i'd stay away. You can find better ways to spend 180 bucks!

I bought the intercooler diverter, but did not want to cut into or mess with my rear windor washer, so I bought an after market washer assembly JC Whitney. Since it did not fit anywhere conveniently I carefully heated the bottle and formed it to fit in the space below the passenger side windshield wiper. I then routed a switch inside the car to activate it the water reservoir. It works great and the rear wiper doesn't need to run the whole time.

I would really like to see than. I could come up and buy you dinner at the 5 & Diner some time and take a look at it if that works for you.

I don' t want to cut out the rear washer/wiper so that sounds like a great idea.

If your interested let me know.

Earl

keep in mind you aren't going to be using the sprayer all the time. If you are a serious track racer, it won't be too detrimental to run both rear wiper and IC diverter sprayer at the same time.

It seems like a big burden before you buy it and install it, but in day to day use, trust me you don't use it that much!

Had mine on for about 4 months and used it at the Dragon Run but really couldn;'t say it made much of a difference.. One of my silicone couplers on the big end is cracking and I think i'll need to return to the stock coupler or get a new one from Alta.. Anybody else had that problem.. I unhooked my rear wiper motor and the sprayer works fine.
