What is "Boost"?
Ok yes i'm a newbie when it comes to modifications but even after reading other threads and trying to research it, i still don't understand what "boost" is. Can someone or some people explain what it is and what it does? Greatly appreciated

Check out some info on Turbo chargers, forced induction, super chargers. Not being rude, just some key terms to help out. Videos are also a helpful source of information.
Hopefully that can get you a good starting point

Air that is introduced into the motor for the combustion process is boosted, or pressurized to a pressure higher than that of atmospheric pressure.

Ok so after a quick trip to wikipedia boost refers to, im guessing, the amount of air pressure greater than atmospheric pressure going into the engine?

And how exactly does boost create more power?

And what kind of mods increase boost? For example, air discharge pipes, CAIs, charge pipes etc etc?

None of those. Boost pressure is controlled by the ECU. Getting the ECU tuned is what will increase boost pressure.

Remember that as you increase boost (pressure) you increase stress on your engine, increase it too much and you start breaking stuff.
Using an OBD scanner and an iPhone app I read a max boost of 13 psi. Don't know the accuracy of the measurement though.

And is there a certain equation or rule of thumb as to how boost increases performance such as in horsepower or throttle response?

Some people claim that bolt on mods help with the turbo spooling faster (sooner), that's debatable. Mostly it's sound and bling.
