When I first got my 2013 N18 Cooper S Roadster I noticed there is a valve coming from the intake hose which leads nowhere (bottom arrow).. As you can see (top arrow) there are various clips on the airbox to route the pipe work.

I've had a look on realoem and tracked it down to crankcase ventilation. Can someone look under their bonnet and see if this is there?

Are there any implications since this hasn't had the part since being built?

Supposedly there was a change to this. IF you check it should not have a hole in it.

 

Is it a RHD UK build R56 Cooper S. See u are from the UK. So things might be a little different.

I get the same part number 11157632333 but on RHD and UK :

" For vehicles with
Ausst. Kraftstoffe mit Verkokungsneigung
S1A1A=Yes "

Thanks for the info - will check it out later, it is indeed a RHD.. Interestingly that description translates to 'Exh. Fuels with coking'..

Indeed the valve is blocked off at the tip, strange they didn't get rid of it entirely.

 

 

My guess is that its an emission thing not used in EU or England.
