i know a lot of people here are Audi/VW fans. Qnyone know anything or have any experience with this shop in Norwalk? i went there last summer and the owner Mitchell (nice guy) seemed to know his stuff. they have a 4 wheel dyno, beautiful showroom and installation facility, etc. the only thing that kept me from going to them was that they had just started doing work on MINIs and the market for the cars was still so new. they are a distributor for Milltek exhausts, and UUC products, and they work a lot on VWs Audis, and especially Porsches. their most recent ventures are the EVO, WRX, and MINI. anyone have any experience with them? any info will help, thanks.

no not from Norwalk, from White Plains, but hang out a bit in CT. this place is not that far from me only about 15-20 minutes. i'd love to get a bunch of MINI owners to go there and possibly get them to sponsor one of us or even advertise on NAM and get some group buys going, dyno days, runs to Lime Rock, etc.

I am from Norwalk - have been to their shop, and it looks really nice! They did help fix a poorly mounted tire I had last year on the wife's M3.......did a fine job.
I think it would be a great job if they could do mod work on MINIs, at a reasonable price and high quality work!
I have heard from some of their Porsche customers, who are quite pleased.
At this point, I am inclined to have them do my next mod installations, as I had a local garage wrench, who I thought was pretty good, do the Brembo brake install and am not so happy about that job.
WOuld be great if they should think of sponsoring you in autocross.......give them a try on that! What's to lose - they could only say no, but then again, them might say sure - great idea - we'll get those MINI customers in here!
There are sure a lot of MINIs in the local area!~

Right on... as far as autocrossing goes, I belong to the FCSCC which runs at Naugatuck Valley Comm. College in Waterbury. I also ran with Poughkeepsie SCC last weekend at the Orange County Airport.

Maybe if we got enough MINI owners together, we could get some sort of group my for performance and aesthetic mods... like sport seats! Giddie up!

Yeah, good idea!.....I think they may be kinna open to that idea, too. They know there are a lot of MINIs in the area, Brian said he thought mostly chicks drove them...ha, ha, ha. Wrong. There are a bunch of guys who are very interested in performance mods.....they need to get their name out there.
Especially with that autocross crowd.
If they do quality work, and it seems like they do, to me, they need you and need to sponsor cars running the circuits.
SO, go for it! Sell yourself!
I was there today and they are working up some prices for my mod dreams, including installation.
Will keep you posted.

I am in the Westport/Norwalk area. Was this place formerly called SpeedSport Tuning? Next to Taco Bell? I had a friend who worked there, but many years ago (around 10 years ago). They have changed quite a bit since then.

Also.. if anyone starts up a Mini Club for the Fairfield Country area.. please let me know.

yes they used to be called Speedsport Technik/tuning. they recently changed, because the Technik arm used to serve their VW/Audi, WRX, and EVO customers, while the Tuning side was only Porsches. now they're all merged into Speedtechnik.

I used to work with someone who took his Passat 1.8T there for another new chip.. swore by the place, and he was always one to walk out on bad service.

OK, so I went over there about an hour ago and met one of their techs(Allen?), seemed like a good guy. Got Brians's business card. I think I'm going to have them put my new brake components on next week.
They had about six or seven Porsches out there in varying states of tune, from a mid-seventies Targa that had seen better days to a black 993 Turbo to what appeared to be a GT3 Cup car. I also saw the blue M3 and the RS6 from their website. Their showroom looked good and it was dominated by a black Golf 1.8T with a FMIC and a Ducatti Monster Black. All-in-all I'd say it looks like a quality shop.
So that's the lowdown.

Nothing real special. I have some Mintex Redbox pads, Motul brake fluid and some braided stanless lines to go on the front. But at least a dustcloud won't billow from my car when I brake. Hopefully I'll get less fade as well.

They are a dealer of mine I have to say. They worked on our 2004 S4 and treated me like a king while I was there for a few days. Andy does most of the wrenching and he is great. Mitch, Brian and Pete are also super. You have nothing to fear. They will make SURE you are extremely pleased. -Pete, Stratmosphere

They did a great job installing my Milltek header and exhaust and Alta short shift kit!!!!!!!

These guys are really tops, eagerly volunteered to do any tune-up on parts, as needed. Very good and clean work!!!!!!!

Nice to deal with, very busy.

Funny, no one has mentioned price?

Given that they are into Porsche and Audi I would guess that the bill would look more BMW than Mini.

Am I correct?

I pay for quality if it comes with expertise. 90% of Mini mods require only basic automotive parts changing skills. For a Porsche those skills cost about twice as much as they should cost for a Mini.

So, yea I'll pay for quality but at a Mini not a Porsche price.

As for a dealer...I don't know as my car has never been to a dealer.

I may as well chime in too...

I lived in Westport for 30+ years, and knew some folks there when it was SpeedSport. I've heard nothing but good things! I've always done all of my own work, but know a few guys who had some Porsche work done there back when that was all they did.
