Car Stalls After Sprint Booster Install on MCSa

I purchased a used sprint booster for an automatic Mini on the classified forums. When installing, I made sure to wait five minutes after unlocking the doors before unplugging the wiring harness behind the accelerator pedal. I plugged both ends in and re-assembled everything. When I turned the car on it stalled almost immediately and all the lights went on like a christmas tree on dash - SES, EP, EPL, you name it.

I turned the car off and on a few more times, each time it did the same thing. Then I removed the sprint booster and the car returned to normal after one or two restarts.

Then I re-installed the sprint booster. The same thing happened. My question is has anyone experienced something like this and/or does anyone have any idea what could be causing the car to behave like this?

Maybe the one you have is not for automatic ? I believe the red one was for manual, and black cable wire unit was auto.

The unit has the black cable, so it sounds like I have the right one. Is it possible the connection wasn't the greatest? I noticed the light on the selector was not on and was not coming on when pressed...

I bet one the codes stored is probably a throttle pedal malfunction....I think you are correct in not having a solid connection.

Check the pins from the front for straightness, try to reconnect.

If still an issue maybe a wire in the harness or a metal bushing contact in the connector has pulled out from the back, which will be hard to see since they are encased in the black shrink wrapping....

Sounds like you have the newer version but connection at same location as the earlier ones.....This is the model # for auto version for 1st Gen auto: SPR2095A. Light out indicates not on or "factory settings".
