Drivetrain Intercoolers: Helix or TyrolSport or Alta?
I have an Alta FMIC. Today, I use it as a heat sink, for a DOS W2A IC… Don't buy an Alta FMIC! It's to big, it doesn't fit, and I thought that it created lag. It works very well, cooling the coolant, for the DOS W2A IC….
OH I agree, not going to cry over 1lb.... like I was saying before , I heard everything from 25 ,16 , 12lbs for the Wagner. I just have not checked with them for the truth yet. Evolve sent me a reply in email saying 8lbs.... Was hoping to get a reply here on the Helix...?
Also i'm not a fan of paint or a coating trapping more heat in so another sell point would be raw...

Don't be fooled by the 'lighter is better' sales pitch. A heavier intercooler is a better heat sink, and will give you more consistent performance than a lighter one. People surmise that a few more pounds will affect the acceleration or handling of their car. As I've said before, Sebastian Loeb wouldn't feel the difference. Any performance lost by an extra 4-5 pounds will be made up for (by a factor of multiples) by a better performing intercooler. Ask yourself: when you put a grocery bag in the boot, do you feel a difference in handling?
well I'm big into my HP to weight ratio but...
what got me going after the weights of the coolers was I read on here someone said the Wagner was 25lbs no way would I put that on the front of my car.... that is what got me into checking out weights. but the Wagner is close with everyone else ...
