Did it! - Installed the CAI - nice!
Just finished installing an Alta V2 CAI. Took about an 1hr and 20mins. Would've been finished sooner, but I was using the stock inlet hose, and it was a b*tch to get that darn thing onto the Alta inlet box.
Nonetheless, the CAI is installed, and a perfect compliment for my WMW 15% pulley I installed last summer. (I bought the pulley, belt, plug kit).
I made sure to clean off the ID of the foam filter before installing. But just in case, I plan to make periodic checks to ensure the hoses and filter are all in place.
Did the initial shakedown drive, and love the SC whine!!! awesome!
Since I live in Phoenix, I'm planning to clean the filter every 6-8K miles. Lots of dust here.
I think my next mod will be the rear sway bar. we'll see.

I've got around 100 miles on the CAI, since the install. So far, enjoying it.
I'm not hearing any "whistles", just the SC whine. I was a little surprised, expecting this to be a screaming banshee, after reading all the write up's.
So I was a bit concerned, about putting it on. Not at all now. I'd say the sound level, (on acceleration), is about 3x-4x louder than the stock. But once your foot is out of it, and you're cruising it sounds like stock.
Maybe I'm not hearing the dreaded "whistle", because my Wife has always said I don't listen, and I can't hear...

500+ miles now on the CAI, since I installed it. Still no whistle. As you suggest, it must be an artifact of the silicon hose.
I'm sticking with the OEM hose setup. Working great.
I've actually noticed a slight uptick in mileage.
