Drivetrain Cracked Driving Light
MINI also doesn't sell the glass for the fog lights or the clear plastic for the turn signal/park lights. For both of those lights, if you crack the glass/plastic (I've done both), you need to purchase a whole new assembly.
Replacing the OEM MINI driving light assembly is very easy, you dont even have to open the bonnet.
- Remove the phillips screw at the 6 o'clock position on the lamp bezel
- Pull the bezel outwards from the bottom, unhooking the edge at the top
- Disconnect the wires at the bulb lead and the reflector (if just replacing the bulb, just disconnect the bulb lead and remove the screw holding the bulb in place, then reverse the preceeding to reassemble)
- Push the wiring down through the mounting post, then remove the large mounting nut and remove the assembly
- Reverse order to reassemble
That's it! If you are replacing the entire assembly with an aftermarket lamp, you will have to splice the new lamp's wires to the existing harness wiring, most likely removing and discarding the original terminals. A hint there is to leave an inch of wiring remaining on the terminals if you ever want to reinstall the OEM style driving lights. This will give you something to splice to and still keep all the connections hidden inside the lamp assembly.
Those with OEM lights should be prepared to see the rust buildup inside the housings.
