I was hoping that someone from this past weekend's pulley party at Webb would get their car dyno'd with the new Unichip, but no one has mentioned anything other than subjective feel as yet. Same with the AMD one click, Shark, etc. I really don't care how the butt-dyno feels, as it is a real pain to calibrate properly, I just want someone to do a real before and after test under similiar conditions on the same dyno. Is that too much to ask for? And no offense to the vendors, but any customer has to take your in-house testing with a grain of marketing salt.

Oh, and GIAC is still smoke and mirrors, but I am not holding my breath.

Is someone going to dyno any of these parts?

2Cool,

We need to setup a testing fund in order to get these results. Maybe someone will take the intiative and setup a subscription type system, whereby you pay for the results and the payment would go toward paying for the dyno time. It would be great if tuners gave us more objective information. A lot of tuners are not becoming manufacturers so it kind of loses their independence. Plus a lot of tuners only post a single graph. It would be great to see an average of runs. I had heard that Randy saw anywhere from 8hp to 17hp with his Powerchip upgrade. That is a pretty big difference. I am not sure if we will ever get these numbers.

I suspect as time goes on, various magazines such as Grassroots Motorsports, Eurotuner and their ilk will test various MINI upgrades as the market matures. I know Grassroots has done some initial exhaust testing, it will just take time for it to get there.

Actually the Grassroots thing may be a good idea, and I will talk with Per about it when I see him at our next local autocross. He already mentioned comparing their new torsen equipped MCS to a quaife one... which reminds me to volunteer for that too, maybe I can score more than a t-shirt from those guys.

Anyways, I am close to buying at least one ECU product, and I WILL have dyno comparisons. I like to know if I wasted my money on new parts...
