Water/Meth/tuning questions

My car has a few mods (15% pulley, intake, exhaust, coil pack, plugs wires, poly motor mounts, intercooler diverter) and I am heavily looking into water/meth then getting the car tuned. I was wondering what else would i need/be a good idea to have to get the car tuned? (ie. wide band O2 sensor...) Also if i run the WM setup i am thinking of running the Devilsown system with the pressure switch, not sure i like the idea of the controller (turning it off and on) any thoughts? Is there a better setup?

Aquamist, they have a kit designed to work specifically in the MINI, it is a quality kit and you get what you pay for. Just remember that if tuned for meth and you run out, you could blow your motor. Aquamist has safeties that the others don't.

Another thing to consider what company did wrc go to when they needed water meth injection
Aquamist. you get what you pay for. also why cheap out when you could trash your motor easily.

Another possible direction would be cam/ bigger intercooler/ tune/ breaks, it might give you more than meth alone (correct me if I'm wrong), and they seem to be the next logical steps after your mods. Oh yeah, and did I mention breaks?

+1 on the aquamist, IMO, if you do decide to go with a lesser system do yourself a favor, don't tune for it, take advantage of it's basic cooling properties, (basiclly the difference would be the same as running yoir car on a hot day vs a nice cool day) and leave it at that.

I guess I should rephrase. I'm getting the car tuned. Then going to add a WM system more for the safety reasons than the power 'gain'. is there anything I will need/make it easier to tune? Is a wide and o2 sensor something that is beneficial to some one tuning a R53? Also the brakes have been upgraded mildly and considering I only do light track(2-3 sessions a season) and it is my daily driver they are perfect for what I use the car for. Is there any other company that make a kit that's is worth while. 650 ish plus shipping does not seem justifiable to me.

A wideband isn't a bad idea to keep an eye on your A/F, it can also be useful to the guy tuning it.

For the brakes, if you aren't tracking your car that much, maybe some better pads (Hawks HP +), better brake fluid, stainless lines and you would be good to go. I've started to go to the track last summer and I really need to upgrade mines OEM are good until they get really hot.

I had the HP+'s on my car for about a week. One very long week. The noise from them on the street was way beyond unacceptable. It sounded like a freight train stopping. Any application of the brake resulted in all sorts of squeal and grinding.

As far as the Meth goes as others have said don't tune for power. Just use it to drop intake temps and increase knock resistance. I'm currently running two #1 nozzles on my car with good results. I have one before the supercharger at the throttle body and the other after the intercooler. I never see intake temps above 115 degrees even when it's 100 degrees plus here. I originally ran a single #2 post intercooler. I tried splitting it to see if I'd get a bit more boost with the water helping seal the supercharger some. I saw zero difference though. I only still run the dual since it's a bit of work to go back to the single and it doesn't seem to harm anything.

I'm not a big fan of the high priced Aquamist system for this application. If you were tuning to the razors edge and the meth was the difference between a blown motor or not then maybe. The only thing they have over a bare bones kit is the controller. When you are just looking for some cooling on a street car it's way overkill. All the systems use the same exact pumps built by Shur-Flo. There's no black magic there despite what the companies say. Just find a kit with a tank that works for your application and a solenoid shut off system. The check valve type systems tend to leak and can cause you issues.

banzairx,

Are your jets of equal size or is one larger than the other.
Only thing that concerns me is spraying pre blower means its pre intercooler.
Makes it a area for the meth to condense and gives a change for un even fueling.
That being said, I have considered spraying pre blower.
Also what kit are you using, you did not mention....

#1 before the supercharger & #1 post intercooler. Originally ran a single #2 post intercooler. There were no differences in temps or boost between the two.

I'm using a Labonte kit. they went out of business about a year ago though.
