Cool Carbon vs Red Stuff vs ??

Hi Guys,

I thinking about replacing my OEM pads, since I have white wheels and they dust like there's no tomorrow. Thinking about Cool Carbons, EBC's Red Stuff or perhaps Carbotech ($$$). Anyone tried Cool Carbons? I've read good things (similar to Carbotech reviews) but mainly for other car brands.

Scottie.

Hi Scotty,

I run white wheels too and the dust was killing me. I spent a couple weeks researching pads and narrowed it down to EBC Red Stuff or Akebono euro ceramics. I bought the Akebonos and have been happy with them.

Hope that helps

Nice. I have white wheels, so I feel your pain, too. How's the feel with Akebonos? I've heard they have a little less bite than stock. I was leaning towards Red Stuff, but I could swayed.

Give a look at Porterfield R4-S pads. Had them all the way around for a few years and they are excellent. Good for track days too. Oh, yea, not too much dusting either.

I think any ceramic pad will have less bite than the stock pads. It hasn't been an issue for me. In the cold winter months (in MN) the lack of bite is noticeable, but not even close to a safety issue. I haven't driven anything with redstuff pads, but I think they would be a great choice too. I ended up getting the akebonos only because i found a better price (has gone up a little since, but here).

I've had carbotechs and I'm now running EBC red stuff. The carbos were extremely dusty, didn't last long, but stopped great.
The EBC red was cheaper and waaaay less dust. They actually have very little dust and also work great. They seem to be lasting a lot longer than the carbos.

Interesting. I guess it's down to Akebonos or Red Stuff then. Hmm.

I had the Hawk HPS and went to the EBC Red Stuff last year. The hawks were niceand I thought they couldn't be beat with regard to dusting, but the Red Stuff pads....wow.

I've installed and driven on all the choices and I chose to put the EBC Redstuff on my car. For the price and low dust with good bite they are the way to go.

I think I might have to go with Red Stuff. Thanks for all the advice.
