>>i like it.. it makes me different right now.. cause most people would not put that on there car because of the price... I think it cools my car down more with that scoop on there... although it probably only took 15 bucks to make i think this its worth the price..

15 bucks? I thought this piece is made of real carbon fiber?

Look closely at those pics - appears to be stuck on "carbon fiber look" vinyl.

If your going to get a scoop spend the extra money and get a real carbon fiber one, the "carbon look" version like the one trplezero has are functional but are made from abs and tend to flex and vibrate at speed which doesnt help the noise factor and will work the adhesive tape loose. The real carbon versions are very strong and tend not to have the problems of cheaper versions. There where a couple of write ups comparing the two on the mini2 site.

FYI, we're going to be making a full Carbon fiber version of this for MINI Mania to sell... Price should be about the same.

YES! YES! I've often thought that doing a redesign on the factory scoop, enlarging it to capture more air, would be a good thing. Not over the top, mind you... Nothing huge. Just a single replacement unit that would look very similar to the scoop with one of those fake carbon attachments would be a great starting/reference point to build from.

Yup. The venturi suffers cuz it really doesnt open it up anymore... it just tries to cram more air into the same small space. The scoop has a good inch or 2 that can be used to cram more air in there that isnt utilized. There is a shop in my area that does good fiberglass work (made his own custom wing and splitter) that I contacted about doing this. No reply yet

It's going to be MINI Mania's product - we're just the manufacturer. If they (or you) want to paint it, it's not our decision.

BBR makes a scope as well. I believe they were one of the first. They claim it lowers the intercooler ten degrees at 60mph I believe. They are pretty serious tuners, so I am assuming that they have tested it.

I did enquire this venturi scoop from mini-design about few month back. They told me that the ones that they have fitted cause so much air turbulance that it causes the wipers to go crazy at any speed over 40 mph so be warned. If I'm not mistaken, they fitted it on the Dark Grey MCS in GOMINI Magazine Aug/ Sep Issue.

They got it from BBR and I also believe that BBR is one of the first.

I honestly think the venturi scoop is a waste of money. It doesnt open up the scoop any, just forces more air into the stock area that wants to be forced in.... causing turbulence and PROBABLY causing a loss in actual airflow to the intercooler.

I would like to see a piece that replaces the entire factory hood scoop, not just sticks to the top of it. If I can get a few people together to commit to a buy I am sure many people would consider creating one.

Any takers?

Yes, I agree. I rather have a piece that replaces the entire factory hood scoop made of Carcon Fibre. Yeah!

I have the BBR scoop and although I don't actually feel any power difference, the scoop didn't cause any turbulence in my case. Actually when I initially installed it I noticed that I sort of lost a little power, but I'm not sure since when I took it off again, it didn't feel any different. So now it's back on, I just like how it looks, I think it blends in better to some colors than others, plus I had mine painted.

oH yea.. I think it looks nicer painted if you dont have the CF venturi scoop. Nice..

I wanted to get the scoop for myself too but I think it cost too much. I ended up buying the CF scoop for $140
