Boost leak using a Sprintex S/C and DOS Intercooler…. Help..
So, I was able to drive my mini perfectly before I decided to change and use Sprintex supercharger with DOS A to A Intercooler…..!!!
I have faced:
- Throttle rising and falling at idle as if I was revving the car to 1500rpm and then releasing the throttle constantly
- Boost leak which I couldn’t detect
- A very hot exhausted air
When I checked the DTC’s using Bytetronic FA53, I found the followings:
P1229 Throttle Sensor Adaptation Failure.
P0036 HO2S Heater Control Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 2).
P1109 Manifold Air Pressure Sensor Too High in Deceleration.
P1242 Secondary Upstream Manifold Air Pressure Sensor Too High in Deceleration.
P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected.
Action points:
- Throttle body: Changed
- Bypass Valve: OK
- MAP sensor: OK

You have a system with very little data on it, so troubleshooting may be difficult. If you haven't, try Myne's, see if they're willing/able to help.
First place I'd look is the intercooler boots--make sure there are no tears or leaks. It's the simplest place to start/look. If you don't get anywhere with that, you may be in for a headache....

Are you sure its not leaking at the intercooler boot?
Look from the back under it.
or use something flamable that wont leave a mess like starting fluid
to spray on the connections and look for a change in idle.
odd that its fluxuating so much and has not just gone into limp mode.
also what do your spark plugs look like.
at any point did you put the supercharger and intercooler on and it worked right?
if so what did you change between then and now?
also if your sensors are older you may want to consider changing them as performance applications tend to degrade them far quicker.

I'm with Colin, you have a leak somewhere, what boots are you using? And do you still have your stock I/C that you can try as a trouble shooting method?
I've never seen any of these issues mentioned with any of the Sprintex installs, must be something directly related to the connections or mechanicals involved with your specific install.
Also check the connections for the vac. lines to the S/C, make sure the o-rings are coorrect and in place and that the bolts for the compression fittings are tight. Sounds to me because your having more problems than would normally be associated with a simple boost leak.
And also yes, because your map sensor "was" good, you need to make sure that it "is" good, if you know someone with another MCS, ask them if you can borrow theirs to double check.
