Unichip

So I'm poking around in the passenger footwell of my new to me MINI, and I find this:

The harness is there waiting to be plugged in.

From what I've read, the unichip was an epic fail, and since this is no longer connected, I'm guessing this one was too.

I'm away from home, on vacation, away from my car. I figure that this is a perfect time to ask the question since I can't run out and plug this in for a week.

My inclination is to remove it and toss it.

So...what would you do?

From what I can see in your signature it looks like you bought mikeg's old R56....

He was one of the first ones with a UniChip back in the day lol

Yes, I have Mike's old car, but I didn't buy it from him. The car was in the Carolinas for a few years before I got it. Just bought it in March. I did learn lots about it reading his old posts though!

I'm guessing he did the Unichip right. By the posts it looks like it did well with the mods. I just haven't been able to trace what happened in the past few years. I'm guessing there have been ECU updates from the dealer since, which may have changed the behavior of the tune.
