X-brace was mandatory on my E36 Bimmer - not so sure about the MINI. Last time I was under a MINI, I didn't see any glaring lack of structure - it's a veritable tank down there.

First, determine what is flexing. Next, measure that flexing. Then, design a brace to combat it.

So, what is flexing?

It would be cheaper to buy some exercise weights and put them on the floor... all an X brace would do is add weight.

Don't forget the all-important wallet weight to part weight ratio. Removing weight from the wallet and redistributing it under the car will help lower the center of gravity.

Depleted uranium will both take MORE mass from your wallet AND put more mass under your car. I don't know if you've ever driven a car with a depleted uranium x-brace. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.

or start by measuring to see if anything at all is is flexing....

it occurred to me that these people may be suffering from shiny strut brace thingy placebo effect. how else can you explain these "uncontrollable in a 120 mph sweeper without a rear strut brace" comments. if they THINK it handles better, do they push harder?
