I put the jcw intake on today, the power curve is flatter, i got my low end back but i did lose some top end, seems like the response on the lower rpms is better but at higher rpms is not, definitely now i can accelerate if im in 6th and moving up from 65, which with the open filter i didnt quite instantly. It has the cone paper filter on it, maybe response changes once i change it to a different dry filter.
So I must ask, which are you favoring?
Open intake or OEM set up
If I could I would get the JCW intake but I have the N18 engine and I believe it only works for the Minis with N14's

I have a 2011 with the N18, i just sourced the bottom part from a 07-10 :-), for now, i pick the jcw, the low rpms are far more usable than the high for daily driving, i have a feeling the restrictive factor in the airbox is not the box but the filter itself, i want to try later with a less restrictive filter if the reaponse gets better in the high rpms, i will try in the winter with the open filter again to see the differences between the 2
I went back to my open set up, what a difference! after running my jcw intake for the summer, and part of the fall, i see no difference in lower end power and gain a little bit of power up top now

Return to cooler ambient air Are you going to run that until the high temps return?

No, just for the winter, i want to try next the jcw intake with a cone dry filter, i feel like the jcw paper filter lacks air in the top end, i want to see if its because of the filter or because the fact that the jcw is closed and doesnt have any more air to suck from

Let us know what you find when you have a chance to test the cone filter, thanks!
