Drivetrain Plasma Booster install how to...
#1
I recently purchased an M7 Plasma Booster used and it came sans instructions.
Can anyone please post instructions or PM me plz? I'll post my findings in a few weeks.. my main desire for the device is to see if the gas mileage will actually improve. I've logged my mileage with each and every mod so far, so I'm eager to see how this part goes.
Thanks in advance.

There really is not much to it.
Double side tape your M7 PB to the top of the plastic cover near the ECU or to the side of your intake box.
Three wires come out of the PB that go to the three wires of the ignition coil harness. One grey wire from the PB is for the ground-right to the top of the engine near the corner of the intake box is a small nut.
Of the three wires that come from the PB-
Connect the yellow wire to the red wire of the ignition harness
Connect the other two blue wires to the other two wires left on the harness- doesn't matter which.
Use the crimp clip and just plug the wires in place.
Route the wires in a protective plastic sleeve so they don't dangle anywhere too hot.
Watch the 3 lights when the engine is on. Night time is good.
Mpg- although it has been reported that there is supposed to be something good. I have not seen anything significant after trying to document postitive mpg gains for about 5 months now and I check each week.

And for all I know, after you double-stick tape it down,
you don't even need to hook up the wires.
OK, that was a joke since mine didn't make any difference to mileage
or performance.
Please let us know your results.
(Off the record, someone took one apart, and found no components
in there other than the LED and the LED control circuit. This has not been
verified, and may not even be true.)

Purely hypotetically speaking, if I wanted to make two
blinking lights, and one solid-on as well as twang the
coil primary around a little bit so it shows up on an oscilloscope,
using just the components you described, I'd do something like this:
Now after trying it out a little, I'm sure I'd find a place for the
extra parts, and probably even get the diodes in the correct way.
I don't think there would be any switches in there. Maybe you could
post a drawing of the circuit YOU would build, and then we can work
out what you can use instead of the switches.

If I was building a hypothetical circuit, I would use two upright plastic boxish components that I would say looked like similar to Starburst candy. I think Polyprolelen capacitors look like that? I'd put thost right at the begining of the circuit. Like I said, I know very little about electonics.

andy, i can't tell if you are being serious and that is your dyno graph, or if you took that graph from M7 and are sarcastically asking....
and based on that schematic that was posted, are you guys saying that is all thats in the Plasma Booster? So you are paying $250 bucks for a handful of resistors from Radio Shack assmebled in an order that make them flash?
and if no one has shown any gains from this product, what am i missing? (i have never heard of this....) is this item a joke or a serious item?
and why do they call it "plasma booster" if it is an ignition device? "plasma booster" sounds like some machine the local bloodmobile uses to rapidly withdrawl plasma from your body!

The Plasma Booster is a real product from ignitionsolutions.com.
I tried it and it didn't make any difference in performance ON MY CAR.
Now, what if it came out that the "active" components of the PB
were two $0.50 inductors, and the rest of the components just
made the LEDs flash?
Would people want to know that, or not?
How would it be possible to determine if that statement was true
or false without asking Peter at M7 who presumably knows what's
inside to disclose it?
Would it make ANY difference what's inside if people were satisfied
paying $250 for the device? Afterall, who cares what's inside if you
like the results?
I paid $150 for a Whalen shift **** and I'm satisfied even though it
doesn't make any difference in performance and certainly didn't cost
$75 in materials.
M7 doesn't say that it's got $99.95 worth of stuff in it, so it's not fraud
even if the box is empty is it?
But ignitionsolutions IS claiming performance gains on their website, so
they should have SOME responsibility not to rip people off right?
Just blabbibg my thoughts. I don't know anything about what's in it for sure.

Before this flares up again please refer back to the original thread where Ignition Solutions came to the site and tried to address the questions that were posed. I'm aware that some of the questions were not addressed to everyone's satisfaction but I encourage you to read through the information and make your own decisions relative to this product. In the meantime, thanks to Brad for taking the time to assist the original poster with his question.

Great pics!
If anyone believes this BS about the Plasma Booster, regardless of what's in (or not in ) the box, I've got a bridge for sale.... cheap!
And yes, I am an electronic engineer, specializing in automotive electronics.
My '03 MCS as it appeared in the MossMini catalog (I've never posted a picture here before, so I hope this works)...
