How much labour?

Thinking about upgrading my clutch/ flywheel assembly at some point.

Can anyone tell me how much work is actually required to do this? Like, what's the process for dissassembly and how long does it normally take?

Last one I did on an FWD car took me 2 days. That was on a lift and we were run off at closing so we had to comeback. I think it is a 14hr book job.

GAAHHT DAMN!!!! What exactly has to happen? I know how it's done for RWD, but always been curious how much has to be dissassembled for a MINI. Just a short explanation if you could. Haven't found any youtube vids with a step by step layout.

It cost me $1000 to have a LSD installed. About the same as a clutch and flywheel job.

OX Speed's shop in Baltimore.

How many hours was that and at what rate of labour? I think labour rates here are about $85 an hour. Might be more though. So it would definitely make sense to do an lsd install at the same time as the clutch/ fly wheel

Installing a LSD would probably add another 1.5 hours to the total. If my car didn't have only 25K miles I would have had the clutch done at the same time.

You have to drop the whole front subframe on the MINI to get access to drop the transmission. Then you get to put it all together again. A much more intensive job on a FWD car!

Yea, I found a vid on Youtube with a master tech had one all apart doing this job. Makes me wish I would've gone ahead and studied auto mechanics in college, then gone to BMW for a job. Jeeezz that's gonna be expensive here!!!
