Drivetrain s/c oil. impellers up, down, or sideways?

s/c oil. impellers up, down, or sideways?

So I've got my sc sitting in front of me...when refilling do the impellers go up down or sideways for the correct level of oil to be put back in. I'm guessing down but want to make sure.

I believe that it needs to be as if still mounted to the motor . . .

Well then, what can happen if they are overfull?

It could reduce efficiency as the fluid could drown your gears and drag down its rotation. I'm not sure how harmful this is. Certainly not as harmful as being bone dry I would guess.
