Well now I'm stumped, I never heard of them before...

Are they legit?

Every tuner I spoke to said a OBDII won't be available for a LONG time.

I still can't figure out why NM has issues with surging on the autos and these other tuners don't... I have an auto, with the NM tune and this is driving me crazy. I know Jerry from NM said once they get a chance to see the ECU from an auto JCW CM they should be able to figure it out?

I have to say, I find it interesting that everyone with the ETG tune seems to like it. Even Gabe enjoys what it does for his car other than the over-boosting from the aftermarket DP. But if it hasn't happened since he got an intercooler it might be a nonissue now.

You have to take a lot of the negative stuff about Jags with a grain of salt. A lot of the stuff I saw on the internet was perpetuated by rival tuners who definitely have a monetary axe to grind.

In addition, with the possible exceptions of NM and Renntech, no tuner has a spotless record. I have heard some unflattering things about RMW, for example, and a lot of people consider him the gospel.

Brentuning is an interesting alternative. I will have to look into them some more.

I am curious about what Scott posted.

Are you getting surging issues with the NM Stage 1 tune? Or did you go Stage 2?

Either that or they are a new online parts retailer and are just trying to drive traffic by purporting to have the next big thing in tuning. Fingers crossed, but I am skeptical.

But honestly, I think I like Smokey's and BrenTuning. Yes it's a little more than I wanted to spend on the tune from BrenTuning, but $695+, for 210hp/260tq, I can't describe what an automatic N18 MCS owner would feel about that. Of course I'd have to dyno but oh well. Somebody has to take the plunge on some other tuner besides NM engineering.

Smokey's is also in the picture because they dyno the car before and after, plus with results so I can show you guys. I hope someone else is considering these guys or found other options. I just think with today's technology, the automatics should be able to produce more than 25-30hp and 30-35tq..NM and RennTech says they are having issues with surging, but Smokey's, ETG, and BrenTuning have no issues with surging, just kinda makes me wonder too much.

I guess only one way to find out eventually in the next month or two
Did BrenTuning say whether he can do post-February 2012 ECUs? That's some critical information.

Happens in the higher RPMs. Honestly it is not horrible and I have gotten used to it but would much rather not have to deal with it. Besides this issue I am happy with the tune but with an All4 I would prefer to have more power but who wouldn't...

I will call first thing tomorrow.

Also Brentuning can tune all three 2011-2013 they told me.

And that sucks you have surging in Stage 1.

I'm super excited if they can do the OBDII no joke! I will be their tester if they need one.

Based on my mods I think they were trying to push for more hp/tq.

Agreed. I've been sitting on the sidelines now for a while waiting to see what options pop up for tuning my 2011 MCS. Mailing my ECU was an absolute last resort, and I never liked the fact that this was required when anything changed, be it hardware that I added, or Mini changing the ECU software at service. Hopefully this is the silver bullet that we have been waiting for to kill the N18 tuning issues dead.

I am curious why no one here that has had any of these problems has logged their car and posted the logs online. Instead are playing a guessing game.

I would love to see a set of logs for a tuned N18 just so we can see how well they are really running with these tunes that most dont seem to know a lot about.
