I've been searching for about a year for a solution to my pinging. during my search I've gone through the fuel system, clean filter, good pump, bigger injectors./// nope, still pings, less, but still.

I've thought that it may be ignition related, threw a new coil and wires at it... nope. I went through copper, silver, single electrode, platinum +4 bosch, every spark plug I could think of.. nope

Ive had the timing adjusted a few times and it still seems to be detonating beyond the ecu's ability to pull timing in time.

I got a GP intercooler thinking intake temps needed to drop and that might help. nope, only lost about 15deg or so.

Ive had it "diagnosed" by quite a few techs, and all they can say is pull timing, or that I have too much heat from my 17% pulley. but they all say "it runs great", dont get me wrong, I've done my due diligence in diagnosing and have come up short every time, but have gotten some great parts in the mean time.

BTW, if I run 100octane race gas, pinging goes away, but at $8 a gal I'm not going to do that for my daily driver.

so I finally did it, got a Meth injection Kit from Aquamist (HFS3) and a Howerton Engineering trunk mounted tank.

and guess what?!?!?! it works

this is the best knock suppression system money can buy.

So you were still getting ping after your RMW tune? Did you get tuned on the water meth kit or are you just injecting to cure the ping?

 

What are you using for the water/meth mix and how much are you consuming?
