Drivetrain How to remove automatic shift knob
Not quite so simple... easy to remove the OEM **** - just pull up - HARD - it just snaps off, and snaps back on.
But there are no real aftermarket alternatives for this **** that retain the function of the lock-out button. You CAN put on any **** you can make fit and forget the button. Like this:

But don't expect to lose much height.
A few more details here if you're interested.

I have one of a handful of Whalen shift ***** for automatics. Doug only made a few and decided not to make any more because there's no way to make them not spin about 15 degrees when they're installed (and he's even more of a perfectionist than I.
Oh, and if you do find an aftermarket **** and take yours off, BE CAREFUL when you pull that OEM **** off. I had a fat lip for two days. Others have had even more severe injuries. When it comes off, it COMES OFF.

You see, Paul... the stronger you are, the harder you can pull. The harder you pull, the greater the force when that **** releases.
Hey, back a couple years ago, wasn't there somebody here on NAM who actually busted up their knuckles on the sunroof when they got the shift **** to come off ? I vaguely remember that. Now THAT is pulling with some force.
