Exhaust Setup Question

Looking to complete my exhaust. I bought an OBXr header and I'm trying to figure out what to do about finishing the system. Debating between putting the stock cat back in, or using a pipe with the o2 sensor bungs welded in.

Wanted to check in and see if anyone that is running the setup with no cat can offer some advice or experience with the setup. I know it'll be louder that with the cat, and that I will throw codes. On that note, is anyone running one of those o2 simulators?

Anyone get involved with heat wrapping their header and exhaust? Thinking about doing that and removing the heat shield. I was talking with a buddy of mine about my car and the heat that the motor creates and we were saying that it would seem that having the heat shield over the header would only take the heat and bounce it back down to the exhaust system, which is why I'm thinking about trying the wrap and getting rid of the head shield. Wouldn't mind some input on that idea either if people have experience.

I do know that this topic has been covered before and I'm aware that there was a battle over the cat vs no cat debate. I'm not looking to get into that at all. I'm just trying to get some info. Thanks in advance.

Bryan

I used the exhaust WRAP on another vehicle of mine and it really reduced the heat build-up. In fact I could touch the pipe even with the vehicle operating so I know it reduced the temp a large amount in the area the wrap was used. Maybe the heat shield and the wrap would work better together ?

However, I don't know if wrapping the pipe will have an effect on the O2 sensors down stream from the wrapped pipe.

You may want to contact a racing team to answer that question. Maybe Mini Mania in Nevada City, CA could be helpful ?
