What issues am I going to run into putting a 2005 MCS engine into a 2003 MCS?? I am having some issues with the 2003engine and I have a low mileage 2005 lump to install. Is it pretty much plug and play or are there things to look for.
Do I need anything specific?? I would assume the ECUs need swapped ?

Everything is pretty much plug and play. Just be sure to change gaskets and other items that need replacement. You will need an engine hoist obviously, an engine leveler makes it easier to position the engine in and out. Everything else is pretty much hand tools. No ecu swap. The bentley manual does wonders. Have fun!

 

You just reuse all your accessories and even wiring. You can't really take the ECU from the 05, your 03 will work fine. They are the same engine.

I would suggest a new clutch, crank pulley, thermostat, and gaskets.
