New Mini Owner Looking to Add Some Ponies - Advise

Just got a 1st Gen Mini Cooper S and wondering your recomendations on what to add and in what order to boost power. Looking to stay with additions that are relatively safe/reliable ... at first at least. Looks like a pully and ECU flash is the way most go? Please let me know what you advise and what has/has not worked for you guys if you would be so kind! Also, looking for a good Mini shop in Southern Cali to do the work if any of you have recomendations?

Thanks!
-Steve

Pulley: %15 is "considered safe"

Plugs, Coil Pack, Wires: all can be done by YOU!
(p.s. get the Screamin Demon CP, others have had "issues" with MSD)

Intake: get a used CAI system, or get a Intake Hose and high flow filter

Exhaust: make yourself a "one ball" exhaust. Should be fairly cheap at a local shop.

ECU tune will cost $$$. Its generally $500+ for a tune, and is generally done After a pile of upgrades...

Had this issue before. Plugs, coil-packs and wires kept all stock/original seems to make the car run the smoothest.

I had a 02 Mini Cooper before back in 2001, recently I picked up a 03 Mini Cooper S. Any brand suggestions which pully to get?
Last but not least what is a "one ball" exhaust?

15& Pulley & colder plugs, I would recomend this:

http://www.waymotorworks.com/wmw-pulley-package.html

Tried & True.

Then CAI, & possibly wires if you want. ( the factory wires actually work good, I've swapped back & forth between my good wires during diagnosis processes and have found little or no difference)

As far as the coil pack, the factory unit has been proven to be really good and have far less chance of ever having an issue. (even with all my mods & miles I'm still running the original unit.)

Then Custom tune & injectors.

Looks like a good deal if it includes everything listed in that package.
What do you think about the ALTA pully?
http://www.altaperformance.com/speci...charger-pulley
Are they pretty much exactly the same, which one is better?

Any of the big name pulleys (Alta, Craven, etc.) are fine, just stay away from unknown e-bay pulleys just to save a few bucks.

Are any of the big name pullies known to be better? Or wmw ones just as good?
If anything I might just try the wmw kit, on 15%.
