Pull a pulley with a puller like this?

Say THAT five times fast! Anyway, I have this puller. I do not have any fancy, Mini-pulley-specific pullers. Could I use this to pull the pulley from my R53? What challenges might I face using this as opposed to a fancier, proprietary puller?

looks huge, will it fit in the engine bay? there's a little room in there next to the pulley... but that much?

You can face the challenge of ripping the pulley apart and having to cut it, while trying not to cut the s/c shaft. But yeah, like 312griso8v said, it's kind of huge, considering the space we have to work to remove the pulley with the engine tilted. Rent the proper tool, find someone near you with one or buy it, but get a proper pulley puller made for Minis!

Won't work. It will bend the existing pully into a pretzel. Then you'll have to cut it off. Don't ask how I know

I compared the price of just buying the tools to paying my local specialist to do the whole thing, and I'd still come out on top. So I'll just buy the tools, resell the puller, and keep the tensioner.

Chad, will you ship without excessive hassle to Canada? One of your chief competitors will not... At least, not without being pretty surly about it.
