It's up to you really. Normally I wouldn't suggest this for an R56, but you 2011 guys are a little assed out on options right now. ( sorry it's being worked on ) It would be nice to see some data though so you can judge if the power gain is worth the investment for you. The 400 HP bit is all theory based of course based on what the cat does on other cars.

Catless DPs aren't really street legal are they? Isn't that the point of getting a high flow catted DP, besides the sound?

At least at the point I was doing research on various cat designs for the R56, there was no CA legal cat or 49 state legal for the R56 that was high flow or
free flowing enough to make it worth it so technical y speaking your illegal either way.

With that said the curent ones being used by companies like Akraprovik, Exhaust Depot, WMW, ect have proven to at least prevent the light and pass the sniffer. HP/TQ gains are less but it's not as free flowing as a catless either. Visually your screwed if the tech gets **** and really looks up under the heat shield or of course your heat shield is not there.

And that's critical for many, including myself who has to pass dyno'ed emissions every 2 years [Colorado statue].
I would want and need a downpipe / turboback exhaust that has a high-flow catalyst to ensure proper burn efficiency for emissions inspection.

Or just reinstall the factory DP to pass inspection. Takes less then an hour to swap once you've got the hang of it.

well but then you have to worry about if you're somehow caught in the meantime, because if a state feels the need to do inspections, i bet they'll know you're running catless.

been driving for about a 1-2 years now catless and have been pulled over a couple of times for minute things such as forgetting to use a blinker, stuff like that. Cops have followed me plenty of times for no reason. I've also had the lovely opportunity of getting a ticket and the cop waiting for me to turn my car on and drive off before him. Knock on wood, but never have I had any complaints about my exhaust or how loud it is, not even curiosity as to whether its catless or not. I wouldn't be too concerned about it unless your really driving reckless or you live in California where they take things like this very seriously.

Yeah, I can't even imagine a situation where I would get a ticket for running a catted DP. You can't tell from visual inspection so a cop couldn't issue one on the street. Unless the local PD is running a campaign against catted DPs and the cop happens to have a sniffer on him.

Wish, but no can do; Colorado takes their Air Care program serious to where "letting people through" is a state-offense.
Plus, the emission test record is required through the Colorado DMV to renew license plate tags.

Is it a flange or slip mount?
What about putting on the original with larger cat-back piping?
