Lt weight SC pulley

I am ready to add 15% pulley to my 2006 MCS. I like the idea of the 7.8 Oz Ultrik vs the 15.6 Oz of some of the others. I can't find where anyone has tested for any performance gains. Any ideas out there? I did find thread that said they hold up ok... has that thought changed any? Thanks for any comments. Larry

The weight of the pulley really doesn't make much difference, for two reasons. First, an extra 7 ounces isn't a big difference when you consider the entire rotating mass of the supercharger shaft, rotor, reduction gearing in the rear PTO section, etcetera. Also, since the pulley is so small, all of its mass is concentrated very near the supercharger's axis of rotation. This means that the mass of the pulley doesn't have a big effect on the rotational inertia of the supercharger assembly.

Really, any of the commonly-used pulleys would be a good choice - I haven't had a problem with any of them, and I've installed pulleys from M7, Alta, Ultrik, and WMW, just off the top of my head.

Thanks ScottRiqui, I agree not a lot of weight, just kind of curious if anyone has tested for noticeable difference in RPM acceleration with each pulley! Larry

I had the Ultrik 3 piece and it squeaked like mad. It was installed for 3 months before it broke free from the snout shaft and made all kinds of racket. Running the standard 2 piece stainless one now.

Your not going to feel that weight.

Light weight supercharger pulley= Marketing

You can't tell the difference in the weight of a pulley when you drive the car. Plus I think an all Stainless pulley would be better to have than one that is part steel and part aluminum. Difference in metals will have corrosion form.
