Worst cam install EVER

So this is the story all about how, my life got flipped turned upside down...

Background: I come from old school small block chevy's and have worked on or built a few engines over the last 10 years. So i'm pretty confident to do most work on my cars.

Got the RMW street cam, tore everything down for install, and some how ended up with the chain skipping some teeth.
I believe I had turned the cam to make sure it would spin smoothly and didn't have the chain tensioner installed... :-/ yeap, i felt like an idiot.

so timing was all out of whack and the only way to fix it was pull the timing cover.
I'm at 99k miles now so I decided if i had to do that, I might as well replace some other parts while i'm at it.

New chain tensioner
New chain guides
05+ facelift crank damper
New gaskets
2 new rocker arms... (stupid plastic retainers)

A week before I had installed the BSH lower engine mount and TSW upper mount.

got it all back together last night in about 3 hours drove it and it ran great.
took it to work today and the check engine light went out after about 10 miles of driving :-D

Next up is flush the coolant and replace the leaking thermostat along with replacing the crusty oil pan gasket.

RMW header, bigger injectors and a tune are really the only performance mods I want to get done

I have to say, i feel a much greater emotional connection to the car now, much like I did with my old '86 Chevy C10.

/end story

You are not alone. Every time I work on my cars something happens to make me think I would have been a lot easier to pay someone to do the work and just not deal with it. It is nice to fix things though, but while doing the work, I always end up hating it.
