Not sure if anyone is still looking and I know its not $500, but Motoringwerks is having a sale on Invidias (more like a group buy) for $599 shipped if they get 1-5 people and $589 shipped for 6+ people. Seems like a good deal to me... I'm seeing if I can scrape together some money now.

I wonder the same thing. Way, perhaps? I know he carries them, and generally only carries stuff he'll stand behind.

I have a rust hole in the rolled edge of my OEM S muffler (on which the JB Weld is curing as I type this!) and am planning on replacing it with the IE unit. I simply can't afford much more, as much as I'd love a Billy Boat or Stratmosphere, and need a replacement fairly urgently.

I think the IE sounds great and for the money, I'm sure it works pretty well. Their stuff albiet inexpensive is usually pretty solid.

Like others have said, Invidia exhuast is the way to go. I've installed most of the exhuasts on the market, and I have to say the quality of the invidia exhuast is second to none.

This has got to be the BEST advice I have seen on this forum. The guy that had my MINI got custom exhaust made for it for around 350 (IIRC) out the door. Flows nice, Sounds great and fits like a glove. Best part is he didn't even have to install it. They do ALL the work for you.

Do you have to find mufflers for them to use for the custom system?

Sorry but this is false statement. We carry and sell anything and everything for the MINI and I do NOT recommend all the parts we have for sale. If ANYONE asks me about ANY part we will give truthful info about if it's good, bad, or indifferent. I don't want to carry many parts, but there is no way I could stay in business if I only carried certain parts. This is my full time job, it puts food on the table and a roof over my head.
If you do see a product on our site that has our WMW Gold seal that is a product we recommend and think is best.

I suggest saving your money to get a Stratmosphere or Milltek, they are the best for an R53.

Why is that? I am about to buy a system or have one made. So I am curious.

Because we've found the fit of them to be the best, they don't drone on the highway, and also found the best torque gains from them. That is why they are the best, I have one on my MCS.

Totally agree with Way- I put one on my 05 R53 back in December. I went the one ball route about 2 years after I bought it. It gave a decent sound but, not much on increased performance. I guess it may have gotten a couple of HP gain but, not much. Going by the "seat of the pants dino", the Milltek made a big difference in torque. Thats what you feel when you hit the gas. Like the old saying- torque gets you going, HP keeps you going. I highly recomend the Milltek system. Yes, its a little pricy but you get what you pay for. If you plan on keeping you car, its the best long term bang for your buck.
