If you listen to the sucking wind sound under the supercharger whine, it sounds sporatic under moderate acceleration. Instead of it being a conitinuous "suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck" sound, it's more of a rapid "sucksucksucksucksucksucksucksucksuck&quot ; sound. Anyone else notice this? Is this normal? Is this a product of the yoyo? I have a 2004 and i have noticed a very slight yoyo during acceleration, but so slight I almost wonder if it's my imagination. But this sporatic sucking sound is very obvious.

Yeah, that's the bypass valve flickering open/closed, I described it previously as a sort of quick queefing noise Disconnected my bypass valve and now she just has a nice deep sucking sound.

ummm....ok, well if I'm hearing the yoyo, how come zamirez so creatively described how he got rid of it?

oh, and about that bypass valve....how did you disconnect it and what other effects does it have now that it's disconnected?

It is the Yo-yo, which is caused by a bypass valve spring that is too soft. To read up on this, go through the 7+ page "Yo Yo Chronicles" thread in the Beneath the Bonnet forum.

I've always expected the bypass valve. As I progressed from stock to 15% to 19% pulley my minor yo-yo stayed minor but became more noticeable as the pressure differentials became higher.

Has anyone tried either replacing the spring or fitting another valve?

ahem, I have I'm currently running a spring in the bypass valve that is about 60% stiffer than stock. The valve no longer opens 100%, so fuel mileage suffers slightly, however the mechanical instability is gone. Read up ---> The Yo-Yo Chronicles

Cheers,
Ryan

I thought of Joe Vs. the Volcano:
Joe: I should say something. This life... "life," what a joke. This situation, this room. You look terrible, Mr. Waturi. You look like a bag of **** stuffed in a cheap suit. Not that anybody could look under these zombie lights. I can feel them sucking the juice out of my eyeballs, suck suck suck suck 300 bucks a week. That's the news. For three hundred bucks a week, I've lived in this sink, this used rubber.
