Installed it today. It feels great! Shifts are WAAAY more positive and the extra effort is VERY much welcome. The install took a little longer than expected as it seems the Magnaflow exhaust is a little harder to get out of the way than the stock exhaust. Doing this for the first time it took 2 hours, if I were to do it again I could do it in 1 hour taking my time.

Some things to note when installing. The instructions are a little hard to understand regarding removing the ball and socket which disconnects the shift lever from the cable. The secret isn't to pull on the ball but grab it and pivot the socket until it pops off the ball. This tooks us 15-20 minuites alone to figure out. Getting it back on is easy.

Great mod for $39, highly recommended.

Cheers,

Paul

Is modification of the dust cover necessary with the Helix unit?

You do have to remove the dust cover (or at least modify it) to fit the shifter kit in. Although it is redundant with the exhaust heat sheild, we recommend an annual greasing-of-the-ball-joint ceremony, which is easily done from inside the car. All instructions are included with the kit. for first-timers, allow about an hour and a half for install on jack stands.

BTW, '04 shift kit is coming soon...

A tip for those doing this. To get the ball joint to seperate grab the joint with a pair of pliers and pivot the ball joint and it will suddenly let go. Don't pull.
