Performance ideas
Hey guys, I have a 02 MCS (Electric Blue if u wanna know) im looking for some mod ideas. I have $1500 to spend. I already have cold air and cat back. I know a pulley is one of the mods so any other ideas will be welcome. Thanks.
Thanks for the input. Its not a solid $1500, I could end up being more. I have a header, but iy keeps throwing codes so I took it back off. I am definately doing a pulley thats set. I like to work on my own cars, but im not too comfortable with this. If it was my old mustang I would tear it down and rebuild in a heartbeat. Im torn between head, cam and sprint booster. Any other ideas. All are welcome.
If you do a head you will need to do a header to optimize it's (the head) performance, most of the header code issues are simply CAT's and the best solution so far is to have a header that has a bolt on CAT so that you can use a stock CAT (they have been proven to hold up to the heat best) and it can also be replaced when needed without having to buy a whole new header.
I'd skip on the Sprint Booster. They may actually work but, with the power you are planning to get you won't need it... Put that money towards a tune...

+1. I love my SB, but if you're gonna get a tune, you can have your throttle response increased that way and kill two birds with one stone.
Pulley/Plug/Belt/Strap Package ($200), IE Fixed Camber Plates ($180), 19mm Rear Sway Bar ($220), Springs ($230), Adj Rear Lower Control Arms ($240), and 4-Wheel Alignment ($100). All for about $1200 in parts. That gives you some money for install if you do not want to do it yourself.
If you do the work yourself and have more to spend, I would add lower X-brace ($380).

For course an ECU tune would also be nice ($500).
You might also want to consider a new belt tensioner ($160) or at least tensioner bushings ($43) when doing the pulley.
If you do the work yourself (which I suggest); you will need a buy, rent, or borrow a pulley removal tool and belt tensioner tool.
WMW has a couple good packages:
Pulley: http://www.waymotorworks.com/wmw-pulley-package.html
Suspension: http://www.waymotorworks.com/wmw-sus...n-package.html
Then save for a brake upgrade such as:

A pulley should be number one on your list.
A sway bar would be number two.
Then everything else people can debate until they are blue in the face
.
But reality is $1500 will only buy the parts to build a good head, not the port and flow work.

CAI options
I see the JCW cai on the way motor works website.... It costs twice as much as others, and says it only increases HP by 5. Other CAIs claim around twice the HP gain.... If all this is true, why ever buy a JCW?..
I am looking for the best HP gain for my 07 MCS automatic cabrio that isn't excessively loud....regardless of price. What's my best option?
Thanks

1 - WMW Pulley Package (i would go with 17%)
2 - Header with hi flow CAT
3 - Tune
4 - 19mm sway bar (H&R)
5 - springs
6 - M7 Strut tower Brace
that would probably put you prettry close to your 1500$ budget and would give you lots of power plus proper handling

I suppose a lot depends on your long term goal. Best advice is to make sure all your original parts are in very good order. (Brakes, Tyres, Clutch, Belt, etc, etc...)
I've tweaked my engine up to the 190+ Hp range, you can see that in my sig. I'm satisfied with that for now!
I'm also looking at the next phase. A rear sway bar seems the next addition to my plans. Then something basic, a new set of non-runflat tyres.
Planning on Continental Extreme Contact DW. Yet to decide if I'll also add Koni Yellows, and Ways Spring/End-link/Sway-bar package or just stick to the sway bar. I haven't set my budget yet!
Eventually when brakes are needed I'll upgrade to EBC Kit with stainless steel hoses. Right now my stock brakes are in good shape and have excellent stopping power.
The above list will probably come in around $3000 plus!!!!! Then a cam and GP IC........oh no.............. does this ever end?????
