Resonator delete vids?

Does anyone have or know where i can find any vids of R56 driving with the resonator deleted? I have found several with the car idling or revving the engine but none of the car actually driving off. I would like to see what it sounds like under load. I'm guessing it takes on a different tone.

I have some on Youtube of the revving (laardilla17), but have not made any driving ones. I can tell you that it does get a bit deeper than stock, and a lot raspier. It is not as clean, which I prefer. It makes it sound meaner. If I was closer to my car I would get one made for ya, but sadly I am about 12 hours from my car. Good luck though! You will be very pleased with the sound after taking out the resonator. It is also good bang for the buck compared to buying a new exhaust. I got mine taken out for $20.

I have heard Laardilla21's car without the resonator. Sounds really good! He also says He gets no drone either at cruising speeds.

Definitely not tinny. It has more burble to it. I did not want it to become more high pitched when I did it. I was very pleased when it tuned in after about a week.

Of course, I have also bitten the bullet and bought a new exhaust system, but for the money and tone change, removing the resonator is a good idea.

When I get back to my car, I will get some driving videos before I install the new exhaust. If you have not made a decision by then, of course, you can take a look. I might just make them anyways for others who are also curious. It will be a couple of weeks though.

I have been thinking about doing this to my JCW, I just don't want it to drone on the highway.

When I did this mod to my S, it never droned as it just make the exhaust sound louder in a good way. I don't know how different it would be with a JCW though.

As stated above, I have no drone with mine at all. It does add some more volume at wide open throttle, but it is far from a horrible sound. It is actually rather surprising how awesome it makes it sound. Since the JCW already has the second cat removed, it should make it sound even better, especially since it has the pop and burble. I would be sooo jealous of a video of a JCW with the resonator deleted.....

Well this is stock, so I'm not too sure I want it much louder.

The volume change is not as drastic as you think. My car actually got quieter in the lower cruising revs, and at idle. No more of that papapapapapa noise you get at idle. (I love my noises turned to words thing. Haha.)

With the JCW, it would only make the volume louder when you really got on it, which I find to be the perfect scenario. Plus, like I said, with the pops and burbles, it would be freaking amazing.

Just sayin....

Here is my car for comparison:

After the delete (a weeks or so later):

No pops, but whatever. Not all of us can buy JCWs.

Also, even though this thread is for resonator deletes, wait until I get my Invidia Q300 put on in a few weeks. It will make you say, "I want a full exhaust!" Haha.

Drewster,

I now know of someone who has taken the plunge on his JCW! He says it is amazing! 25% louderish, with LOTS more pops and burbles. He also says he has not experienced any real drone at interstate speeds. I say, do it.

-Johnny

Actually, I just want a video of a JCW with no resonator.......

I have a factory JCW exhaust and I am thinking of deleting the resonator also. I forgot that the 2nd cat is deleted on that exhaust. I am also getting a catless DP so this should be interesting. I am not sure if I want to add a different resonator or just take it out. I can't watch the Youtube videos as the internet ***** in Afghanistan block Youtube.

I am the guy Johnny was referring to. I blame it all on him. I have to admit up front that I am an exhaustaholic--love loud exhausts. Deleting the resonator($40) works for me. It is at least 30% louder and the pops and burbles have increased in number and volume--big time. For some reason my JCW was very quiet--relatively speaking. I was quite disappointed. It did get a little louder and I began to hear some pops and burbles as I closed in on 1,000 miles. I decided on the delete option Tues. I am thrilled with the results. I wish I had the tech know how and capability to post some videos. Unforunately I have neither.

I have driven several hundred miles with the res removed. No drone--louder --for sure: BUT--when not hammering it not that loud. Interstate speed 70-80+ I have no complaints. I must state again that I have had a bunch of cars with very loud exhausts. A 5.0 with off road h pipe. A Z28 with an SLP Loudmouth exhaust(basically straight pipes). A C5 Vette with the Loudmouth. My '05 MCS with a Magnaflow. (I believe the res delete on my JCW is definitely louder). Had a BMW Performance exhaust put on my '09 135i--still a relatively "quiet" exhaust for a 300HP twin turbo.

For me, the delete works. The meek should not apply. The car now fits its' name--BUDacious. It sounds like a MINI on steroids Nick

Is it possible to remove the second cat off the mini Cooper s and pass emissions without a problem? I have an appt. To remove the resonator and am now considering removing the second cat as well.. Worth it?

If you don't live in a CARB state like California I don't think it would be a problem because the 2nd cat is unmonitored.

Can do, like I said it's going on on Monday for the resonator and second cat delete. I'll try getting some before and afters of it driving off as well. The shop said 40 bucks to do it, it's not permanent but it should hold me over until I get my 3inch turbo back. Getting my Alta cold air intake and boost gauge on tuesday too. Can't wait to throw everything together.
