Drivetrain Got a problem with your BOV, ALTA wants to know about it!

FYI - http://pure-gas.org/ pointed me toward a station that has 93 octane ethanol free gas. Looking forward to filling up the tank on that in a couple days.
Stock 2007 R56 BOV failure here. I have 53k miles on my cooper S and had the P28AA code thrown last week.
I ran the alta software stage 1 for about 6 months now when the car started to misfire. I took it into the stealer, and had carbon cleaning done, also the turbo's oil line was leaking around the mount into the turbo. The inside of my engine was disgusting, I paid to have the cleaning done (walnut blasting), and have the upgraded turbo oil line/mount installed. About two weeks after that work the car reduced power and threw the P28AA CEL.
I took the car to the dealer figuring that they must have screwed something up since the turbo needed to be removed (according to them) to replace the oil line and mount. So I figured maybe the BOV got screwed up then. The tech thought that was weird I guess so he decided to do the HPFP failure test which showed my HPFP was not performing properly. He replaced that, but didn't do a thorough test drive. Right when I picked up the car I got on the freeway, gunned it and threw the BOV code again.
So finally they're giving me a BOV on the house for my troubles, which they should since it's only about a 60 dollar part.
Anyway long story short, my OEM bov failed, and the car threw a P28AA code. What do you guys have cooking? A better BOV? Are these known to fail frequently? I would certainly buy a better part to make sure the car keeps running.

Also, eagerly waiting for a part the will hold more boost than the stocker. Any update on a release date? I need to replace mine ASAP. Would it be worthwhile to just upgrade the spring while waiting for this part to be completed?
Thanks Chris, Still having high boost bleed off over 20 psi. Checked the OE DV and diaphragm is fine. Also had the intake smoke tested for leaks and didn't find anything. The only other thing to change would be the Factory DV.

I have your BOV Spring Upgrade, and have recently noticed it fluttering when I was doing a data run. It happens most when I'm in third and let the RPM's get really low, gun it and then let of the gas.
I guess thats ok.... I'll just have to be REALLY REALLY good this year and maybe Santa will bring me one next time ( If those Alta elves can make the darn thing by then ) We got a new Mini dealership in my neighborhood maybe a year ago and the difference in the amount of coopers around town is just increasing rapidly. I'll have to get out there and spread the word about you guys, I really enjoy the fact that you guys are active on these forums. Good luck with 2012 Alta!
Eagerly awaiting something to stop my bleed off problem. I've tried your "upgraded" spring and that did NOT work. I'm still getting bleed off above ~20 psi. I hope this BOV will fix my issue.
The resistor could have either fallen out or isn't making a good connection. Double check to make sure that it's still there, and that the prongs are folded in half to make the best connection to the plug.
ALTA diverter
Yes Chris, thanks for the quick reply. I'm sorry I thought something was in the works for 2011+ MCS. Your site indicates the valve is not compatible with the later R56. If this is not the case please let me know and I'll make a purchase.
Sorry for the misunderstanding, we do not have a diverter for the 2011+ cars, since there really isn't an easy way to get a boost source on those cars. Usually we'd use the intake manifold for a boost source, but the newer engine doesn't run boost or vacuum the same way as the older cars in the intake manifold, so our kit simply won't work as intended, sorry about that.
Reduce power no boost no response at BOV
We have been getting emails in regards to customers with OEM BOV(AKA BPV, or CRV, we will call it BOV from here on) failures. If there are legitimate customers with BOV's ripping, failing, sticking, or causing CEL's, I want to know about it! We have been working on a couple of solutions for this and I want to get a better idea what and why this is happening. I want to hear all the horror stories! Post up your pics and stories here so we can all see if this is a widespread problem.
If you can make sure and post up your pics along with how it failed, and what modifications were done to the car, that would be great! Basically give us the most info you can so we can to help design a new part for this. Depending on the responses we get, I may be able to get Jeff to take some pics of the couple designs we are testing on! Also feel free to email me if you would rather do that. Chris.cone@altaperformance.com.
