I took the plunge along with the million other people and had the Alta pulley put on my MCS this afternoon. I had it installed at RSpeed in Marietta, Georgia. As everyone has said before it is an excellent bang for the buck. Holy Cow the car has power now. RSpeed did a terrific job and is an excellent shop to take your Mini too. I know that a lot of people have given kudos to RSpeed for their excellent customer service. Well I would like to add to those comments as well. RSpeed will be the place I will take my Mini to in the future. Hector did a high quality job on the pulley. I can't recommend them enough. If you like in Tenessee, Georgia or South Carolina it is worth the drive to get a pulley done if you find the pulley party inconvenient for you. They charged $235 for the pulley install. I bought the pulley on Outmotoring.com when it was on sale for $149, so the total cost was only $384, which is quite good for the performance you get.

I also had the Denso Iridium K22 installed at the same time. (Which by the way I bought on http://www.sparkplugs.com for $44, which appears to be the cheapest price out there). The performance is excellent. As many have stated below this is how the car should have come from the factory.

I plan to have the car dynoed again in about two weeks. This should allow the ECU to adapt and give me a true number, which I will compare against my baseline.

Again, great job RSpeed.

Yep all the guys are fun to be around. and they all do quality work.

Sorry I missed the install at RSpeed, got hung up in a meeting, two people like to ramble on and on, and one of them is my boss, .. anyone else and I would have just gotten up and walked out.

How did it go? got some pic's to share? ScottG and I are having lunch at Fudruckers over by premiter mall on thursday around 11:30 if you or anyone else who can get away it would be nice to meet.

Later, Kent

p.s. what did you think about the size, quality of the existing pulley?

Kent,

I took a few pics of the engine lifted out, which looked pretty cool. Man does the stock pulley look cheap. Just a stamped piece of metal. Really makes the Alta Pulley look high end. It took some time, but fun to hang around and watch. They told me I had to take a ride in your car to try out the Powerchip. Did it make a big difference for you performance wise, or did you get the pulley and chip installed at the same time?

got them at the same time, but Randy took us for test rides after each pulley install, the ECU webbpowerchip seems to soften everything out, helps the throttle response etc.. a few of the guys at the pulley party did not get the ECU, and I think they wish they have. Jeff told me and scott he wanted it bad. I can tell a diff. in the car with the new ECU programming. my yoyo and stumble are almost gone. still there but way, way better. plus if they (bmw) comes out with a new version that fixes these you can get re-mapped, its part of the cost. they send you a notebook and cables and your chip, you download the new ecu, email it to them ( they are in the states) then in an hour they email it back and you re-download the modified version. its all pretty snappy. scott and i are meeting at fudruckers over by premiter mall tomorrow at 11:30, your welcome to join us, we can chat about Mini stuff.
