Anybody know anything about the new OS Giken GT1CD clutch/flywheel combo? Way at WMW says they may have them sometime in Feb, but can't find any other info on it anywhere. Not even on Giken's site! From what Way told me it sounds like a much friendlier street clutch then the single plate STR.

I have the str and it is a pain. I know there is another one that is suppose to be a full race clutch I don't know if it is the one you are speaking of. I have had mine for about a week now and I do not recommend OSGiken because they willing know that the stock flywheels bolts are too long and they do not supply replacement bolts, tell you that they are longer in the instructions, and don't really care.

Yes talked to OS on Monday this week. We will be getting the R53's soon, but they are making a couple changes on the R56, so it is going to take longer. But I'll let you know the minute I have one.

Cool thanks! By the way, do you know what price range it is expected to be yet?

I have a used STR single plate with 10k on it for sale. When it started slipping due to my torque output it was replaced with a dual disc setup.

SOLD...

i was talking to a friend at OS and asked about this during our conversation. He said there is a very limited supply coming into the states right now, something like 10-15 units at a time. In a month or two they should get a more steady supply rolling in.

If you can hold out for it then that's what i would do. They make the best clutch right now for MINI at the moment

It's still a single disc. Basically an update of the original SS clutch. I have not heard any word of a dual disk coming out for the R56.

What is a good OEM replacement for OS Giken? Same stiffness and friction point zone.

I've tried my friends 350Z with racing clutch and I find it very difficult to drive on the street.

it depends driving style mostly but you can buy its repair kit if a problem occurs. Still the the best clutch imo.

I bought the STR system second hand off Raymazing, and the clutch is now slipping on a tuned JCW, and the car is undrivable. Not to mention at idle it doesn't have a "little chatter", it sounds as if there's a box of spanners under the engine compartment.

Now I'm stuck with a car that doesn't move. OS Giken doesn't respond to emails, so I don't even know if they will warranty the rebuild kit.

OSGikens throw out bearing is pretty loud. Also is it slipping because you are trying to engage it like the stock clutch or because every gear it slips? Because I have found the best way is give it some gas a just pull the clutch up quickly and it engages smoothly and no problems.
