So Im thinking about going to helix tomorrow to pick up a new bpv. Is there any way for sure to check if my car already has one installed? I never looked before and the car did have some mods so Im not sure. If i take if off, will there be any markings? Also can I check without taking it off?

Ok, and a saw comparison pictures before, and you can see light around the stock butterfly flap. So i guess I will just yank mine off and if there's light then I know its stock.

 

The spring the holds the butterfly is stronger on the Detroit Tuned BPV. You may be able to move the lever and compare the feel with another known MINI BPV without taking it off.
