question about programming ECU?

Im trying to get a borla type-s exhaust for my 10'MCS
what I want to know is if i ONLY change the exhaust on it without any programming
would it cause any problems? like messing up the oxygen sensor or getting a check engine light on??
Thanks in advance! I need advices... oh bytheway my mini is leased.

If it's a cat-back, then there won't be any problems.

If its a full system:
cat-less, definity have chech engine light.
with cat, might have a check engine light if the cat doesn't provide an adequate reaction with the exhaust gases.

I'm running the equivalent Borla exhaust of my neo classic R53 with zero problems. If it's a cat-back, you're good to go!

I installed an Invidia Q300 a couple of weeks ago. It replaces everything from the downpipe V band clamp to the muffler. (resonator and second cat). No check engine light, nothing...

Sounded great to me but wife of 25+ years said it had to go... (she thinks I'm like a 9 year old with a drivers license...lol) So it's easier to put the stock exhaust back on, than swap the wife out for a newer model... A lot less expensive too.

I think its a bit pricey for just a catback that looks like that. Id go for something in the $500-$700 range. Cat backs are usually safe. Did a few on other cars and no problems so far.

You won't have any check engine light problems with just a catback exhaust. I would warn that with the borla you have to remove the center cross support, so I don't recommend it. Also just a catback exhaust won't gain any HP on a turbo MINI.
