i know on my forester, it was a mix of ignition and fuel tuning at a certain rpm only when the clutch switch was active

The WOTBOX will. It shows on their website that MINI Cooper S is support for their launch control.

No it will not, if you contact the company you will find that the ECU does not like the throttle cuts and will trigger a misfire code / limp mode when using it.
They have just not updated their website yet.
