Drivetrain tuning?
Most stand alone units have proved difficult on MINIs. I prefer custom (pro) tune on oem unit. Here is some old threads:

On a gen1 mini, just get a custom dyno tune...
Piggybacks are troublesome for many, and antiquated, "sharks" are iffy, and canned tunes are about the same price. RMW and WMW both do remote and in person tunes!!

the problem is, if i get a dyno tune i need some sort of controller my tuner knows how to run. there isnt a lot of place in upstate NY that tune cars. and if there is they are a honda shop or something and tune with hondata, dsp, or something like that

Also the tunes when done by one of the pro mini tuners are done bt e-mail remotely...
You just need the "tool" to up/download the file to the mini computer...the files are heavily encrypted, and you send the results of the dyno run+ the graph by email to the tuner..they update the tune send it back, and so on...in about an hour of going back and forth, the tune is done.
