Got this Crazy Idea

I was bs'n with a few buddies of mine about 2 weeks ago and we were talking about the power to weight in most cars. Of course the my mini got brought up. Well, I just got a small block 350 and head for free and I want to put it in the Mini. The major question I have is... how much? Next would be is it worth it? Anyway, it was just an idea but I think it could work if I had the right input from some of the master techs on here.

Umm, without giving it too much thought there is most likly no room in the bay, there is no transmission tunnel, the rear subframe is not set up to receive a diff/transaxle.

So yeah. No.

I don't know about a V8, but a V12 is definitely do-able. Twin-turbo, maybe.

Tube chassis, mid rear engine front cooling system and fuel tank. It could be done! Actually I think it already has.

Or you could just go buy a new Ferrari. Same amount of $$ but no work involved.

Make a mold from your MINI and build a one piece fiberglass body. You could hinge it at the back so it opens up like a Funny car with a tube frame. It wouldn't be a MINI, it would just look like one.

If you want to keep it front wheel drive, use an older 500 cubic inch Cadillac El Dorado engine and transmission.

You could mount the engine in the back and work around from that, possible make it real wheel drive. Now that would be fun to drive.

Man that is so sick. I knew it could be done! Thanks for the replies. Now I just have to track them down and figure out how much it cost them and what all the details are. I may just scrap the idea but it's fun just to learn.
