Drivetrain advice on new clutch and flywheel?
advice on new clutch and flywheel?
I recently was told that my clutch only has a few more month left on it probably and will be needing replacement. I have a few questions that I would like to ask and any input would be greatly appreciated. I am doing this on a budget and I didnt want to do anything fancy.
I was looking at the VALEO clutch kit w/flyhweel from waymotorworks as it seems like a decent price for everything.any reviews on this?
also how hard would it be to do myself? I used to work in a shop and have done maybe 5 or 6 clutches on some civics and mustangs before but never a european car? Ive found several DIYs but I am just curious to know if its much harder than a clutch on other cars?
PS. My power steering pump went out yesterday as well and i was thinking of doing it at the same time? how long can i drive on it with it being out?
Thanks for any input!

Having to replace you PS pump means you will already be 1/3rd of the way to doing a clutch. I did over the summer, first ever clutch job, in my garage on some jack stands. Wasnt too bad, nothing particularly notable.
With you PS pump out you are really going to be beating on your steering column. It's not really designed to work with such high loading, so you may hurt the bearings in there.

.But that said a clutch is no fun to do but can be done in your garage just like "Some Guy".
I was interested in this kit when I first saw it at www.detroittuned.com . It looks like a good alternative to buying a dual mass flywheel which is really expensive.
I only know of one person who has this kit on his car, SeanKidd. I PMed him a while back and he said he wasn't having any problems with this kit after 15k miles.
I'd still like to get some more users opinions on it, but so far so good.

Info I posted in another related clutch thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...801-post9.html.
