FWIW, Way has the best pricing on these anywhere that I have found. It is, in fact a VW part and it's used on multiple chasisis'

Move coolant tank like your doing an oil change, then use a 5mm allen to remove the screws on the valve, and replace it's really easy.

I have this piece on my car with hybrid K04 internals and running decent boost and this part SAVED my car, and is SERIOUSLY a great piece! Everything advertised is true about it, and it really runs like a GEM! my stock diverter/bov failed on me majorly and was causing big boost problems and running issues, this piece REALLY does the trick for faster boost response and control.

AND it's completely stealth... i know for a fact that the dealer wouldn't even bother taking it off the car because they don't replace JUST that part... they'd just get an entirely new turbo for you and charge you WAY too much for it. so no the dealer won't bother with it at all... and as for pictures i have some that i'll post in a minute about the two side by side (as well as how terribly my stock one failed....)

and just to top it all off... WMW sent me mine fast as possible when i needed it... some of the best customer service ever!

a friend and i might dabble into trying some slightly higher tension spring rates for the bov but the one in it seems more than sufficient right now

First Failed Stock BOV/Recirc Crack...

Stock Face

Replacement from WMW

Two Side By Side... and just how failed stock is....

Excellent! Forgive me if this is an ignorant question, but does this affect mileage at all?

Also, I've heard here and there that these things can cause damage to engine in the long run that wouldn't have happened were they not installed. Any solid fact-based truth to this?

Can't imagine it'd affect mileage at all... faster actuating or not it's still working off the exact same signal from the ecu, if anything it might theoretically increase milage since it should be getting rid and rebuilding boost more efficiently.

i personally have only heard of that issue with JCWs where some people have said when they track their car the valve isn't opening enough and is causing compressor surge... since this, as stated on WMW website, isn't an upgrade for JCW, i don't see it causing an issue... since the actuator is stronger WITH the spring, not just the spring, it is matched in such a way that it shouldn't cause any issue like that at all. unless you have one of Jan's JCW challenge tunes... that flutters the stock bov/recirc in such a way that it tries to keep as much boost in the system as possible without damaging anything (as i understand it anyway...)

hope that helped a little... but anyway long story short no it shouldnt' damage anything...

I took the oem out and compared it to WMW and I didn't really see the difference...they look identical...springs felt the same...anyway I installed WMW one and went for a quick drive and...I didn't feel anything different...

I'll update on this after drive to work tomorrow..

That is weird. The spring on the WMW version was much stiffer than OEM. This is truly the only mod that I did notice a difference with. My wife could even tell

I see that u have 2008...maybe Mini started putting stiffer spring in 2009?...

So all it needs is a firmer spring?...did I just pay $60+ for a spring?...

Forgive my idiocy as well, but when would I notice the difference when using this piece versus stock? Most of my driving is highway with some spirited jaunts in between. Thanks to those that have an answer.

I would think that you'd notice it between shifts or in situations where you are off and then back on the throttle. There should be more boost readily available for smoother transitions.

The holes are in a different place on the WMW and the Spring is stiffer.

Maybe the answer is obvious, but I'm assuming the difference can be felt for both manual and automatic drivers? Honestly I don't see why that'd make a difference, but it can't hurt to make sure

Who else has 2009 or above?

When I compared it to mine, vents and springs are SAME.

For $65 you really can't go wrong. And it does help boost recover quicker so you aren't getting any between gear lag.

Me, too. I just ordered one from WMW, so it'll be nice to find out before installing.
