Drivetrain Exhaust system question - need help
Exhaust system question - need help
Will the back half (from just past the resonator to the dual exhaust tips) of the exhaust system from a 2008 Mini Cooper S (R56) fit the back half of the exhaust system on a 2003 Mini Cooper S (R53)?
A person with an R53 wants the back half (see picture attached) of the OEM exhaust, which was taken off before delivery to me by my dealer, of my R56 JCW which has a JCW exhaust. Can someone please let me know?

It can be done. But, a battery box delete has to be perfomed in the R53 to accomodate the R56 set up. It basically requires the removal of a few inches of the bottom section of the battery box, then resealing it. Then a straight thru exhaust can be added.
Partsman did this mod and it sounds great. Had to use the resonator for the R56 though. Without it, just using the exhaust set up, it was waaaay too loud.....

I thought Group 4 Autosports (http://www.group4autosport.com/) made a straight-through exhaust, but it might be from another vendor. I do recall an '06 JCW GP get the straight-through setup at MOTD 2010. If memory serves, some modification had to be made to the battery box.
